Director of Tennis
John began his tennis career in 1971 as a part time employee at East Lake Country Club (as a 16 year old he already had the fever for tennis). In 1974. John began his teaching career as an assistant pro at East Lake. After two years he was named Head Professional where he served until 1980.
1980-1981 - John was the first Head Tennis Professional at North Fulton Tennis Center.
1981-1989 - John was the Director of Tennis at Fairington Country Club where he also served as the Tournament Director for the men's professional satellite circuit for Atlanta from 1984-1987.
John came to Summit Chase in 1990 as the Director of Tennis. John has coached two national champions, had several players play on the professional circuit and had over 100 juniors attend college on tennis scholarships.

Junior Tennis Academy Director
Matias Hatem, born in Tucuman, Argentina, is the Director of the Junior Tennis Academy working with beginner, intermediate and high-performance players, and he is also available for private instructions at any level.
Matias comes to Summit Chase with a remarkable tennis experience throughout South and North America, accomplishing numerous awards in his junior, college, and professional career. Matias holds the Professional rating at the Performance workshop for the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) working with young players on correction of all strokes and drill based training.
During his junior career, Matias was ranked 5th in the Argentine National Ranking of 16 & Under, winning a National G1, runner-up in Master Copa Prince and reaching the semi-finals in COSAT Copa el Ceibo, during 2008. Matias also achieved numerous titles in National G2 throughout his junior years. He was recognized as “Athlete of the year” by Tennis Associations, newspapers, and other entities several times in his home city.
Matias earned much success as a college player. During his freshman year at Georgia State University, he set the record of most consecutive matches won as a freshman (15) giving him the award of “CAA Rookie Player of the Year” and “ALL-CAA First Team Singles” in his conference. While playing at Georgia Gwinnett College, he has led his team, as the captain, to three consecutive NAIA National Championships (2014, 2015, 2016) and was also selected as NAIA First Team All-American during those years.
Matias is well known for his dedication and hard work on and off the court. He believes in a well-rounded development of the player, working on the pillars aspects of successful coaching: technical, strategic, mental, and physical.
Steve comes to Summit Chase with 35+ years of tennis coaching/training experience at numerous locations around the world. Steve holds the Professional Level Certification in training/teaching, including skills (all strokes); error detection/correction; drill based training; and tennis history, rules and regulations, receiving a perfect score in each area. Steve is working on his Masters Degree in Tennis through PTR/ITF. Steve also holds the Etcheberry Certification and was personally trained and certified by the legendary Pat Etcheberry, conditioning trainer for leading world-level tennis, PGA NBA, NFL, AL & NL athletes for the past 15 tears.
Steve is a Georgia High School Association Certified Coach and is a training coach for four high schools in the AA-AAAA divisions. He specializes in the training of junior tennis athletes from beginner to elite levels. Steve has trained and placed numerous junior athletes in NCAA Division 1 and 2 colleges and universities, and NCCAA (private) schools. He has coached and trained elite juniors in the top 200 nationally and top 200 in the southern section.
He is well known for his dedication to training the four critical disciplines of tennis: technical, tactical/strategic, mental/emotional, and physical. All are necessary for the success of any serious junior who is considering playing at the college level. His junior athletes and their parents appreciate his caring attitude and personal investment in the tennis and life success of every athlete he trains.

Rob Hrehor brings over 20 years of experience in teaching, playing and stringing to Summit Chase. Rob conducts ALTA and USTA coaching, Tuesday adult drills for intermediate and advanced players and Monday coaching for children age 5-9.
Rob started tennis at Summit Chase in his sophomore high school year with our Director of Tennis, John Heitkam and the late Carlton Davis. He earned junior rankings in the top 35 in the State of Georgia. Rob attended Valdosta State University where he played three seasons for the Blazers. Rob completed his degree at Valdosta though a shoulder injury kept Rob from competing his fourth year. Rob currently plays on a AA-3 Team.
Throughout Rob's high school and college career, he stayed in tune with the tennis industry by giving lessons, stringing racquets and working in the retail tennis industry. He started his retail and stringing career in our Summit Chase Tennis Shop from 1991-1992. Shortly after starting at Summit Chase, at the age of 17, Rob successfully passed the United States Racquet Stringers Association (USRSA) certified stringer test. He has worked at Sports Town, Tennis Express and Four Seasons Racquet Club. Rob has strung over 5,000 racquets in his lifetime and works with John to take care of all your tennis product needs.
Rob, his wife Kristy and daughter, Sydney, have been members of Summit Chase Country Club since 1986 and have had many great memories here.
Dub has been a PTR certified and insured tennis instructor for many years. He believes in teaching tennis by the FEW method: Fun + Exercise = Winner.
In addition to adult drills and lessons, Dub offers ‘Quick Fix Tennis', a 30 minute lesson for $25.00 which concentrates on an area where you need extra work such as forehand, backhand, volley, etc. He also offers tennis ball machine rental for $25.00 which includes 30 minutes of related instruction.
He is presently running our Monday Night beginner's lessons from 6:00 to 6:45 pm and Monday Night Round Robins from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. Both are free to members and $12.00 for guests. Additionally, at various times during the year, he holds fun Friday morning round robins which are free of charge to members and their guests.
